Rescue of a Honey Bee!
Last Thursday afternoon, my husband and I were relaxing with a cup of coffee on our back deck. Enjoying the beautiful day.
A little honey bee decided to pay us a visit and landed on my husband’s finger. He was a cute little honey bee, and just crawled around exploring, minding his own business.
Soon he got bored and flew over to one of the coffee cups, and started crawling up the side. Oh, no, we thought, what if he falls in the cup of hot coffee? What do we do? Swish him away, risk getting stung in the process (didn’t want to make him mad)? Or hope he stops before he reaches the top?
We told him not to do it! Several times! But the next thing you know…
SPLASH! Head first into the coffee cup!
Okay, we got to get him out! My husband grabbed him up the little bee and laid him on the porch. We thought the little honey bee was dead. He wasn’t moving.
We watched him closely for a while, and then he started to move. First a leg, then one wing. Wonderful, he survived!!!
The next 20 minutes we enjoyed watch the little honey bee “bathing”, trying to get the coffee off his little body!
Here are a few photos of him in the process of DE-CAFFEINATING himself!
And enjoy this Honey Bee Video too. It’s blurry in spots, as I tried to get close to him, but you’ll still see how cute he is bathing.
When he was done, he had to do a few “test” flights, and it wasn’t a pretty site. But finally the little honey bee flew off to his hive!
Can you imagine the STORY he told his hive mates????
You can also see a cute photo of this little honey bee sticking out his tongue here. He must not like the taste of coffee!
